     Penelope Berengaria Walker Durrell was born in 1940.² She is the daughter of Lawrence George Durrell and Nancy Isobel Myers.^1,2 She married John Nugent Hope, son of Laurence Nugent Hope and Hilda Mary Hunter, on 22 July 1986.¹
     From 22 July 1986, her married name became Hope.¹

     Lawrence George Durrell was born on 27 February 1912 at Jalandhar, India^G.² He was the son of Lawrence Samuel Durrell and Louisa Florence Dixie.² He married, firstly, Nancy Isobel Myers on 22 January 1935.² He married, secondly, Eve Cohen in 1947.² He married, thirdly, Claude-Marie Vincendon in 1961.² He married, fourthly, Ghislaine de Boysson in 1973.² He and Ghislaine de Boysson were divorced in 1979.² He and Nancy Isobel Myers were separated in 1942.² He and Eve Cohen were separated in 1955.² He died on 7 November 1990 at age 78 at Sommières, France.²
     He was educated at St. Joseph’s College, North Point, Darjeeling, India^G.² He was educated at St. Olave’s Grammar School, Southwark, London, England^G.² He was educated at St. Edmund’s School, Canterbury, Kent, England^G.² He wrote the book Pied Piper of Lovers, published 1935.² As of 1937, Lawrence George Durrell used the pen-name of Charles Norden.² He wrote the book Panic Spring, published 1937.² He wrote the book The Black Book: An Agon, published 1938.² He wrote the book Cefalu, published 1947.² He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society of Literature (F.R.S.L.) in 1954.¹ He was awarded the White Eagles over Serbia in 1957.² He wrote the book The Alexandria Quartet, published 1962.² He wrote the book The Revolt of Aphrodite, published 1974.² He wrote the book The Avignon Quintet, published 1992.²

     Lawrence Samuel Durrell was born on 23 September 1884 at Dum Dum, Calcutta, India.¹ He was the son of Samuel Amos Durrell and Dora Maria Johnstone.¹ He married Louisa Florence Dixie, daughter of George Dixie, in 1910.¹ He died on 16 April 1928 at age 43 at Dalhousie, Madras, India.¹
     He was educated at Thomason College of Civil Engineering, Roorkee, India.¹ He was an engineer.¹ He was chief engineer of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway between 1918 and 1920.¹

     Nancy Isobel Myers married Lawrence George Durrell, son of Lawrence Samuel Durrell and Louisa Florence Dixie, on 22 January 1935.¹ She and Lawrence George Durrell were separated in 1942.¹
     From 22 January 1935, her married name became Durrell.¹

     Lt.-Col. Hugh Bertram Hardy was born on 1 May 1907.¹ He was the son of Sir Bertram Hardy, 3rd Bt. and Violet Agnes Evelyn Leigh.² He married Joan Stella Gwendolyn Dracott, daughter of Charles Hammond Dracott, on 24 July 1933.¹ He died in 1988.¹
     He gained the rank of Major in the 3rd Hussars.¹ He retired from the military, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, late of the 3rd Hussars.¹
