Gerald Malcolm Durrell was born on 7 January 1925 at Jamshedpur, India.1 He was the son of Lawrence Samuel Durrell and Louisa Florence Dixie.1 He married, firstly, Jacqueline Sonia Wolfenden on 26 February 1951.1 He and Jacqueline Sonia Wolfenden were divorced in 1979.1 He married, secondly, Lee McGeorge in 1979.1 He died on 30 January 1995 at age 70 at Jersey General Hospital, Jersey, Channel Islands.1
He wrote the book My Family and Other Families, published 1956.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1982.1
