Archibald James Hamilton1

     Archibald James Hamilton was born on 28 October 1793.1 He was the son of General John Hamilton, 6th of Dalzell and 11th of Orbieston and Anne Mathews.2 He married, secondly, Ellinor Hamilton, daughter of Daniel Hamilton of Gilkercleugh.1 He married, firstly, Margaret Ramsay, daughter of William Ramsay, on 24 August 1824.1 He died on 11 January 1834 at age 40.1
     He fought in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, with the Scots Greys.1

     Margaret Ramsay was the daughter of William Ramsay.2 She married Archibald James Hamilton, son of General John Hamilton, 6th of Dalzell and 11th of Orbieston and Anne Mathews, on 24 August 1824.1 She died on 16 September 1856, without issue.1
     From 24 August 1824, her married name became Hamilton.
