     Claud Alexander of Ballochmyle was born in 1752.1 He was the son of Claud Alexander of Newton and Joanna Cuninghame.2 He married Helenora Maxwell, daughter of Sir William Maxwell of Springkell, 2nd Bt., in 1788.1 He died in 1809.1
     He purchased Ballochmyle, Ayrshire in 1775.1 He was in the Honourable East India Company Service.1 He was Paymaster-General of the Forces in India.1 He also had four other daughters.1
