     Sir Robert Forbes of Learnie was born in 1667.1 He was the son of Sir John Forbes of Craigievar, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Young.2 He married Barbara Ross, daughter of Robert Ross of Auchlossan and Elizabeth Maitland.3 He married Margaret Elphinstone, daughter of Sir James Elphinstone of Logie, 1st Bt. and Cecilia Denholme, on 6 July 1692 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1,4
     He was a practising Advocate in 1692.4

     From 6 July 1692, her married name became Forbes.
