John Elphinstone of Glack1 
He was Honorary Burgess of Aberdeen in 1731.1 On 15 January 1735 he was served heir to his father in Glack.3 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Elphinstone, of Logie Elphinstone, co. Aberdeen and Nova Scotia [N.S., 1701] in January 1743, de jure.1 Burkes Peerage 2003 has this John married firstly to Margaret Forbes (his mother according to earlier editions of Burkes.)

Sir James Elphinstone of Logie, 1st Bt.1 
He was Writer to the Signet (W.S.) in 1671.2 In 1676 he bought the lands of Logie Durnoch.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Aberdeenshire [Scotland] between 1693 and 1702.2 He held the office of Judge of the Commissary Court of Edinburgh in 1696.3 He was created 1st Baronet Elphinstone, of Logie Elphinstone, co. Aberdeen and Nova Scotia [Nova Scotia] on 2 December 1701, with remainder to his heirs male whatsoever.2

He was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates on 15 February 1699.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Aberdeenshire.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Elphinstone, of Logie Elphinstone, co. Aberdeen and Nova Scotia [N.S., 1701] on 10 March 1722.1
