     Mabel Nugent is the daughter of Christopher Nugent, 5th Baron Delvin and Lady Mary FitzGerald. She married, firstly, Murrough O’Brien, 4th Baron of Inchiquin, son of Murrough Macdermot O’Brien, 3rd Baron of Inchiquin and Margaret Cusack.¹ She married, secondly, John FitzPatrick, son of Florence FitzPatrick, 3rd Baron of Upper Ossory.¹
     Her married name became FitzPatrick.¹ She lived at Castletown, County Donegal, Ireland.¹ She was also known as Annabel.¹ Her married name became O’Brien. After her marriage, Mabel Nugent was styled as Baroness of Inchiquin on 20 April 1573.

     Brigadier Ralph Chenevix Trench was born on 15 December 1885.¹ He was the son of Colonel Charles Chenevix Trench and Emily Mary Lefroy.¹ He married Meriel Edith Jelf, daughter of Reverend Dr. George Edward Jelf, on 2 December 1916.¹ He died on 1 May 1974 at age 88.¹
     He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1916.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Signals.¹ He was Deputy Director, Staff Duties of the War Office in 1937.¹ He was Commandant of the Signals Training Centre in 1938.¹ He gained the rank of Temporary Brigadier.¹ He was Signal Officer-in-Charge of the British Expeditionary Force between 1939 and 1940.¹ He gained the rank of Acting Major-General.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1940.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1940.¹

     Meriel Edith Jelf was the daughter of Reverend Dr. George Edward Jelf.¹ She married Brigadier Ralph Chenevix Trench, son of Colonel Charles Chenevix Trench and Emily Mary Lefroy, on 2 December 1916.¹ She died in 1985.¹
     From 2 December 1916, her married name became Chenevix Trench.¹

     Reverend Dr. George Edward Jelf graduated with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)¹ He was Master at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England^G.¹

     Ellen FitzGerald was the daughter of Sir Edmond fitz John FitzGerald and Honora FitzGerald.^1,2 She married Dermot O’Brien, 5th Baron of Inchiquin, son of Murrough O’Brien, 4th Baron of Inchiquin and Mabel Nugent, before 1614.³
     After her marriage, Ellen FitzGerald was styled as Baroness of Inchiquin before 1614. From before 1614, her married name became O’Brien.¹

     Sir Edmond fitz John FitzGerald lived at Ballymaloe, County Cork, Ireland.¹ He was appointed Knight. He lived at Cloyne, County Cork, Ireland^G.¹

     Elizabeth St. Leger was the daughter of Sir William St. Leger.¹ She married Morrogh O’Brien, 1st Earl of Inchiquin, son of Dermot O’Brien, 5th Baron of Inchiquin and Ellen FitzGerald, on 1 October 1635.² She died on 22 May 1685.²
     After her marriage, Elizabeth St. Leger was styled as Baroness of Inchiquin on 1 October 1635. From 1 October 1635, her married name became O’Brien. After her marriage, Elizabeth St. Leger was styled as Countess of Inchiquin on 21 October 1654.

     Sir William St. Leger is the son of John St. Leger and Afra Harflete.² He died in 1678.³

     Lady Margaret Boyle was the daughter of Roger Boyle, 1st Earl of Orrery and Lady Margaret Howard.¹ She married William O’Brien, 2nd Earl of Inchiquin, son of Morrogh O’Brien, 1st Earl of Inchiquin and Elizabeth St. Leger, in 1665.¹ She died circa 24 December 1683.¹ She was buried on 27 December 1683.¹
     From 1665, her married name became O’Brien. After her marriage, Lady Margaret Boyle was styled as Countess of Inchiquin on 9 September 1674.

     Roger Boyle, 1st Earl of Orrery was born on 25 April 1621 at Lismore, County Cork, Ireland^G.² He was the son of Richard Boyle, 1st Earl of Cork and Catherine Fenton.¹ He married Lady Margaret Howard, daughter of Theophilus Howard, 2nd Earl of Suffolk and Lady Elizabeth Home, on 27 January 1640/41 at Lord Aubigny’s House, Queen Street, Covent Gardens, London, England^G.³ He died on 16 October 1679 at age 58 at Castlemartyr, County Cork, Ireland^G, from gout.³ He was buried on 18 October 1679 at Youghal Abbey, Youghal, County Cork, Ireland^G.³
     Roger Boyle, 1st Earl of Orrery also went by the nick-name of Roger ‘the Wise’.⁴ He was created 1st Lord Boyle, Baron of Broghill [Ireland] on 28 February 1627/28.¹ He was appointed Knight on 1 April 1628.² He matriculated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G, in May 1630.² He was admitted to Gray’s Inn on 17 March 1635/36.² He gained the rank of Captain in 1641 in the Troop of Horse.² Between 1641 and 1643 he distinguished himself in quelling the Irish rebellion.² He gained the rank of Colonel in July 1644 in the Regiment of Horse.² He held the office of Governor of Youghal in July 1644.² He gained the rank of General in January 1644/45 in the Horse in Munster.² He held the office of Master of the Ordnance [Ireland] on 21 March 1647/48.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Cork from 1654 to 1655.² He held the office of President of the Council [Scotland] between July 1655 and August 1656.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Edinburgh between 1656 and 1658.² He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland]² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Arundel in 1660, in the Convention Parliament.² He was a Commissioner of Government for Ireland in January 1659/60, where he favoured the Restoration.² He was created 1st Earl of Orrery [Ireland] on 5 September 1660.⁵ He held the office of President of Munster from 10 October 1660 to 26 August 1672.² He held the office of Lord Justice [Ireland] on 31 December 1660.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Arundel between 1661 and 1679.² He held the office of Governor of County Clare from 5 February 1660/61 to 26 August 1672.² He held the office of Constable of Limerick Castle from 9 February 1660/61 to 1679.² He held the office of Lord Justice [Ireland] between 23 December 1661 and July 1662.² He held the office of Sergeant-Major-General of the Army in Ireland on 22 June 1662.² He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) from 26 May 1665 to April 1679.² On 25 November 1669 he was impeached in the English House of Commons for high treason, but the King prorogued Parliament on 11 December, and the matter was dropped.³ He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.⁶
