Lt.-Col. Henry Hercules Cobbe1

     Lt.-Col. Henry Hercules Cobbe was born on 26 February 1869.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Sir Alexander Hugh Cobbe and Emily Barbara Jones.2 He married Genevleve Boyd, daughter of Colonel W. H. Boyd, on 15 April 1907.1 He died on 7 December 1939 at age 70, without issue.1
     He fought in the Burma War between 1895 and 1896.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1901, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1900.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches four times.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Indian Army.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1917.1
