Edmond Butler1 
He inherited one quarter of the family estates under settlement of 14 November 1626.1 On 22 June 1652 300 acres were allotted to him in County Clare by Athlone Commissioners.1 On 11 October 1652 the rest of his family were forfeited by Act of Parliament.1 On 23 February 1653 he had a certificate of transplantation.1 On 8 May 1657 the lands of Shranagollen were set out to him by Loughrea Commissioners.1 On 5 August 1663 he was never transplanted and on the Restoration he had a Decree of Innocence, by which 577 acres of Boytonrath were restored to him for life.1

James Butler1 
In 1659 he took up the lands in Clare set out by the Loughrea Comissioners.1 On 6 August 1666 Boytonrath was granted to James, Duke of Ormonde.1 On 23 January 1667 he was made of fee farm grant of Boytonrath and continued to hold it under the Dukes until 1702.1 On 13 June 1677 he had a ‘Connaught Certificate’ confirming his lands in County Clare.1 He lived at Shranagollen, County Clare, IrelandG.1 He lived at Doone, County Clare, IrelandG.3 He lived at Boytonrath, County Tipperary, IrelandG.1 He had three grants under the Acts of Settlement and Explanation, the last totalling 1,828 acres.1
