He was given the name of Gerald Anthony St. John-Mildmay at birth.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Hampshire Yeomanry Cavalry.1 On 20 February 1900 his name was legally changed to Gerald Anthony Shaw-Lefevre-St. John-Mildmay by Royal Licence, under the terms of his grandfather’s will.1 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet St. John [G.B., 1772] on 24 April 1916.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1
