     Reverend William Hornby was born on 26 February 1810.² He was the son of Reverend Hugh Hornby and Ann Starky.² He married, firstly, Ellen Dorothea Cross, daughter of William Cross and Ellen Chaffers, on 17 January 1837.¹ He married, secondly, Susan Charlotte Margaret Hornby, daughter of Admiral Sir Phipps Hornby and Maria Sophia Burgoyne, on 18 April 1844.² He died on 20 December 1899 at age 89.¹
     He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)² He was the Vicar at St. Michael’s, Lancashire, England^G.² He held the office of Archdeacon of Lancaster.¹

     Thomas Lyon was born in 1786.² He married Eliza Clayton, daughter of George Clayton and Dorothy Gardner, in 1820.² He died in 1859.²
     He lived at Appleton Hall, Cheshire, England^G.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)² He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹

     Georgiana Lyon was the daughter of Thomas Lyon and Eliza Clayton.^2,3 She married Richard Assheton Cross, 1st Viscount Cross, son of William Cross and Ellen Chaffers, on 4 May 1852.¹ She died on 20 January 1907.¹
     From 4 May 1852, her married name became Cross. After her marriage, Georgiana Lyon was styled as Viscountess Cross on 19 August 1886. She was appointed Imperial Order of the Crown of India (C.I.)¹

     Hon. William Henry Cross was born on 22 August 1856.¹ He was the son of Richard Assheton Cross, 1st Viscount Cross and Georgiana Lyon.² He married Mary Lewthwaite, daughter of William Lewthwaite and Mary Challinor, on 19 August 1880.² He died on 11 December 1892 at age 36.¹
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Liverpool.¹

     William Lewthwaite was born on 5 March 1826.² He is the son of John Lewthwaite and Anne Kirkbank.² He married Mary Challinor, daughter of William Challinor, on 11 December 1851.² He died on 23 April 1867 at age 41.²
     He was educated at Macclesfied Grammar School, Macclesfield, Cheshire, England.² He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)² He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)² He lived at Broadgate, Cumberland, England^G.¹

     Mary Lewthwaite was the daughter of William Lewthwaite and Mary Challinor.² She married Hon. William Henry Cross, son of Richard Assheton Cross, 1st Viscount Cross and Georgiana Lyon, on 19 August 1880.² She died on 8 November 1946.¹
     From 19 August 1880, her married name became Cross.

     Gustav Freiherr von Coester married Karoline Friederike Prinzessin zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst, daughter of Karl Albrecht III Philipp Joseph Fürst zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst and Auguste Prinzessin zu Ysenburg und Büdingen in Birstein, on 27 September 1823 at Mannheim, Baden-Württemburg, Germany.¹ He died on 13 July 1873 at Munich, Bavaria, Germany^G.¹

     Hon. Dorothy Mary Cross was the daughter of Hon. William Henry Cross and Mary Lewthwaite.² She died on 31 August 1962, unmarried.¹
     She was registered as a Associate, Royal Red Cross (A.R.C.C.)¹ She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Cumberland.¹ She served during the First World War.¹ On 29 July 1914 she was granted the rank of a viscount’s daughter.¹

     Hon. Georgiana Marjorie Cross was the daughter of Hon. William Henry Cross and Mary Lewthwaite.² She died on 4 February 1958, unmarried.¹
     She served during the First World War and teh Second World War.¹ She was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.)¹ She was registered as a Associate, Royal Red Cross (A.R.C.C.)¹ On 29 July 1914 she was granted the rank of a viscount’s daughter.¹

     Hon. Katharine Cross was the daughter of Hon. William Henry Cross and Mary Lewthwaite.² She died on 10 November 1969, unmarried.¹
