     He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)1 He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.)2 He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in the Royal Artillery.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Field Artillery.2

     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Artillery.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Horse Artillery.2
