John de Cromwell, 1st and last Lord Cromwell1 
He was not definitely son of Ralph but probably so.1 He held the office of Constable of Chepstow Castle from 1307 to 1308.1 He held the office of Constable of the Tower of London in 1307/8.1 He was created 1st Lord Cromwell [England by writ] on 10 March 1307/8.1 He held the office of Constable of the Tower of London between 1310 and 1323.1 He fought in the Battle of Boroughbridge in March 1321/22, on King Edward II’s side.1 He gained the rank of Admiral of the Fleet in 1324.1 He held the office of Constable of the Tower of London from 1326/27 to 1335.1
