     William Ponsonby, 1st Viscount Duncannon was born in 1659.¹ He was the son of Sir John Ponsonby and Elizabeth Folliott.¹ He married Mary Moore, daughter of Hon. Randle Moore and Lady Jane Brabazon.² He died on 17 November 1724.² He was buried at Fiddown, County Kilkenny, Ireland^G.² His will was proven (by probate) on 11 December 1724.³
     He matriculated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G, on 14 November 1677.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the British Army.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Kilkenny from 1692 to 1693.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Kilkenny between 1695 and 1699.⁴ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Kilkenny between 1703 and 1721.⁴ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1715.⁴ He was created 1st Baron Bessborough, of Bessborough, co. Kilkenny [Ireland] on 11 September 1721.² He was created 1st Viscount Duncannon, of the fort of Duncannon, co. Wexford [Ireland] on 28 February 1722/23.² His last will was dated 11 August 1724.

     Dorothy Shaw was born in 1650.² She is the daughter of Captain William Shaw and Ann Sankey.^1,3 She married Sir Henry Ponsonby, son of Sir John Ponsonby and Elizabeth Folliott, on 1 October 1674 at St. Andrew’s Church, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.²
     From 1 October 1674, her married name became Ponsonby.²

     Captain William Shaw was born circa 1599 at Lovelane, Sandbach, Cheshire, England^G.¹ He was the son of Richard Shaw.¹ He married Ann Sankey, daughter of Richard Sankey and Elizabeth Eades.¹
     In 1649 he fled Scotland.²

     Mary Moore was born in 1662 at Ardee, County Louth, Ireland^G.² She was the daughter of Hon. Randle Moore and Lady Jane Brabazon.¹ She married William Ponsonby, 1st Viscount Duncannon, son of Sir John Ponsonby and Elizabeth Folliott.¹ She died on 26 May 1713.¹ She was buried at Fiddown, Ireland^G.¹
     Her married name became Ponsonby.¹

     Hon. Randle Moore is the son of Charles Moore, 2nd Viscount Moore of Drogheda and Hon. Alice Loftus.^1,2 He married, firstly, Lady Jane Brabazon, daughter of Edward Brabazon, 2nd Earl of Meath and Mary Chambré.¹
     He lived at Ardee, County Louth, Ireland^G.³

     Maj.-Gen. Henry Ponsonby was born between 1680 and 1713. He was the son of William Ponsonby, 1st Viscount Duncannon and Mary Moore.¹ He married Lady Frances Brabazon, daughter of Chambre Brabazon, 5th Earl of Meath and Hon. Juliana Chaworth.¹ He died on 11 May 1745 at Fontenay, France^G, killed in action.¹
     He lived at Ashgrove^G.¹

     Folliet Ponsonby was born after 1681. He was the son of William Ponsonby, 1st Viscount Duncannon and Mary Moore.¹ He died in 1746.¹

     Lady Frances Brabazon was the daughter of Chambre Brabazon, 5th Earl of Meath and Hon. Juliana Chaworth.^1,2 She married Maj.-Gen. Henry Ponsonby, son of William Ponsonby, 1st Viscount Duncannon and Mary Moore.¹ She died on 4 November 1751.¹
     Her married name became Ponsonby.¹

     Chambre Brabazon, 5th Earl of Meath was born circa 1645.¹ He was the son of Edward Brabazon, 2nd Earl of Meath and Mary Chambré.¹ He married Hon. Juliana Chaworth, daughter of Patrick Chaworth, 3rd Viscount Chaworth of Armagh and Lady Grace Manners, before 1682.¹ He died on 1 April 1715.¹
     He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Meath [I., 1627] on 22 February 1707.¹ He succeeded as the 6th Lord Brabazon, Baron of Ardee, co. Louth [I., 1616] on 22 February 1707.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1710.¹

     Hon. Juliana Chaworth was born circa 1655.¹ She was the daughter of Patrick Chaworth, 3rd Viscount Chaworth of Armagh and Lady Grace Manners.¹ She married Chambre Brabazon, 5th Earl of Meath, son of Edward Brabazon, 2nd Earl of Meath and Mary Chambré, before 1682.² She died circa 9 November 1692.² She was buried on 12 November 1692.²
     From before 1682, her married name became Brabazon.
