Charles Edward Drummond, 5th Earl of Melfort 
He succeeded as the 5th Lord Drummond of Riccartoun, Castlemains and Gilstoun [S., 1686] in September 1800.1 He succeeded as the 5th Viscount of Melfort [S., 1685] in September 1800.1 He succeeded as the 5th Viscount of Forth [S., 1686] in September 1800.1 He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Melfort [S., 1686] in September 1800.1 He succeeded as the 13th Earl of Perth [S., 1605] in September 1800, de jure.2 He succeeded as the 17th Lord Drummond [S., 1488] in September 1800, de jure.2 In 1803 he took proceedings in the Court of Sessions for the recovery of the lands and titles of Lord Drummond and Earl of Perth.1 In 1808 his action was dismissed becuase as a Catholic he could not bring his claim before the House of Lords.1 In 1823 he petitioned again, and thirdly in 1838 after the Catholic Emancipation Act.1
Léon Maurice Drummond1 
He petitioned for restoration of the Drummond estates on the grounds of his own legitimacy versus that of his elder brothers.1

He gained the rank of Ensign in 1773 in the 1st Foot Guards.1 He fought in the American War of Independence between 1776 and 1777.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1777.1 Between 1787 and 1790 he petitioned unsuccessfully to have his titles restored.1 He gained the rank of Major in 1797.1 He gained the rank of Major-General between 1799 and 1801.1 He was Colonel of the 11th Veteran Battalion between 1807 and 1814.1 He held the office of Governor of Dumbarton Castle between 1810 and 1817.1 He gained the rank of General in 1812.1

He gained the rank of Captain in 1740 in the Grenadier Company, Lord John Drummond’s Jacobite Regiment in France.2 He fought in the Battle of Falkirk on 17 January 1745/46.2 He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Strathallan [S., 1686] on 16 April 1746.2 He fought in the Battle of Culloden on 16 April 1746.2 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Maderty [S., 1609] on 16 April 1746.2 He succeeded as the 5th Lord Drummond of Cromlix [S., 1686] on 16 April 1746.2 On 18 April 1746 he was attainted, with the Machany estate and Strathallan Castle.2
