     Charles Edward Drummond, 5th Earl of Melfort was born on 1 January 1752.¹ He was the son of James Drummond, 3rd Earl of Melfort and Marie de Berenger.¹ He died on 9 April 1840 at age 88.¹
     He succeeded as the 5th Lord Drummond of Riccartoun, Castlemains and Gilstoun [S., 1686] in September 1800.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Viscount of Melfort [S., 1685] in September 1800.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Viscount of Forth [S., 1686] in September 1800.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Melfort [S., 1686] in September 1800.¹ He succeeded as the 13th Earl of Perth [S., 1605] in September 1800, de jure.² He succeeded as the 17th Lord Drummond [S., 1488] in September 1800, de jure.² In 1803 he took proceedings in the Court of Sessions for the recovery of the lands and titles of Lord Drummond and Earl of Perth.¹ In 1808 his action was dismissed becuase as a Catholic he could not bring his claim before the House of Lords.¹ In 1823 he petitioned again, and thirdly in 1838 after the Catholic Emancipation Act.¹

     Léon Maurice Drummond was born on 12 April 1761.¹ He was the son of James Drummond, 3rd Earl of Melfort and Marie de Berenger.¹ He married Marie Elizabeth Lucie de Longemarre on 26 October 1794.¹ He died on 26 April 1826 at age 65.¹
     He petitioned for restoration of the Drummond estates on the grounds of his own legitimacy versus that of his elder brothers.¹

     Marie Elizabeth Lucie de Longemarre married Léon Maurice Drummond, son of James Drummond, 3rd Earl of Melfort and Marie de Berenger, on 26 October 1794.¹ She died on 12 August 1824.¹
     Her married name became Drummond.

     William Drummond, 4th Viscount Strathallan was the son of Sir John Drummond, 3rd of Machany and Margaret Stewart.¹ He married Hon. Margaret Nairne Murray, daughter of William Murray, 2nd Lord Nairne and Margaret Nairne, circa 1 November 1712.² He died on 16 April 1746 at Culloden, Inverness-shire, Scotland, killed in action.²
     He succeeded as the 6th Lord Maderty [S., 1609] on 26 May 1711.¹ He succeeded as the 4th Lord Drummond of Cromlix [S., 1686] on 26 May 1711.¹ He succeeded as the 4th Viscount Strathallan [S., 1686] on 26 May 1711.¹ He fought in the Battle of Sheriffmuir, where he was captured.² He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.³
     

     Margaret Stewart was the daughter of Sir William Stewart of Innernytie.¹ She married Sir John Drummond, 3rd of Machany, son of Sir James Drummond, 2nd of Machany and Anne Hay.¹
     Her married name became Drummond.¹

     Sir William Stewart of Innernytie was the son of Sir William Stewart, 11th of Grandtully and of Murthly.²
     He lived at Innernytie, Scotland^G.¹

     Hon. Margaret Nairne Murray is the daughter of William Murray, 2nd Lord Nairne and Margaret Nairne. She married William Drummond, 4th Viscount Strathallan, son of Sir John Drummond, 3rd of Machany and Margaret Stewart, circa 1 November 1712.¹
     After her marriage, Hon. Margaret Nairne Murray was styled as Viscountess Strathallan circa 1 November 1712. From 2 April 1781, her married name became Drummond.²

     General Andrew John Drummond was born on 15 January 1758.¹ He was the son of James Francis Edward Drummond, 5th Viscount Strathallan and Euphemia Gordon.¹ He died on 20 January 1817 at age 59, unmarried.¹
     He gained the rank of Ensign in 1773 in the 1st Foot Guards.¹ He fought in the American War of Independence between 1776 and 1777.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in 1777.¹ Between 1787 and 1790 he petitioned unsuccessfully to have his titles restored.¹ He gained the rank of Major in 1797.¹ He gained the rank of Major-General between 1799 and 1801.¹ He was Colonel of the 11th Veteran Battalion between 1807 and 1814.¹ He held the office of Governor of Dumbarton Castle between 1810 and 1817.¹ He gained the rank of General in 1812.¹

     James Francis Edward Drummond, 5th Viscount Strathallan was born on 10 June 1722.² He was baptised on 11 June 1722 at Episcopal Church, Muthill, Perthshire, Scotland.¹ He was the son of William Drummond, 4th Viscount Strathallan and Hon. Margaret Nairne Murray.² He married Euphemia Gordon, daughter of Peter Gordon, 11th of Abergeldie and Margaret Primrose, circa November 1750.³ He died on 22 June 1765 at age 43.²
     He gained the rank of Captain in 1740 in the Grenadier Company, Lord John Drummond’s Jacobite Regiment in France.² He fought in the Battle of Falkirk on 17 January 1745/46.² He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Strathallan [S., 1686] on 16 April 1746.² He fought in the Battle of Culloden on 16 April 1746.² He succeeded as the 7th Lord Maderty [S., 1609] on 16 April 1746.² He succeeded as the 5th Lord Drummond of Cromlix [S., 1686] on 16 April 1746.² On 18 April 1746 he was attainted, with the Machany estate and Strathallan Castle.²

     Euphemia Gordon was the daughter of Peter Gordon, 11th of Abergeldie and Margaret Primrose.¹ She married James Francis Edward Drummond, 5th Viscount Strathallan, son of William Drummond, 4th Viscount Strathallan and Hon. Margaret Nairne Murray, circa November 1750.¹ She died on 5 July 1796.¹
     From circa November 1750, her married name became Drummond.¹
