Buckingham [E., 1661] on 23 June 1717.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Verney of Belturbet, co. Cavan [I., 1703] on 23 June 1717.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Wendover between 1741 and 1752.1 He was created 1st Earl Verney, in the province of Leinster [Ireland] on 22 March 1742/43.1

Buckingham [E., 1661] on 4 October 1752.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl Verney, in the province of Leinster [I., 1743] on 4 October 1752.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount of the County of Fermanagh [I., 1703] on 4 October 1752.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Verney of Belturbet, co. Cavan [I., 1703] on 4 October 1752.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Wendover between 1753 and 1761.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) on 20 April 1758.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Carmarthen between 1761 and 1768.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 22 November 1765.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Buckinghamshire between 1768 and 1784.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Buckinghamshire from 1790 to 1791.1
On his death, all of his honours became extinct.1

Hon. Margaret Verney was the daughter of John Verney, 1st Viscount Fermanagh and Elizabeth Palmer.1,3 She married Sir Thomas Cave, 3rd Bt., son of Sir Roger Cave, 2nd Bt. and Martha Browne, on 20 February 1703 at St. Gile’s-in-the-Fields Church, London, EnglandG.3,4 She died on 17 May 1774.5 Her will was proven (by probate) in May 1774.6
Her married name became Cave.
