Henry Boyle, 1st Earl of Shannon

Henry Boyle, 1st Earl of Shannon was born in 1682.2 He was the son of Henry Boyle and Lady Mary O’Brien.3,4 He married, firstly, Catherine Coote, daughter of Lt.-Col. Chidley Coote and Catherine Sandys, in 1715.4 He married, secondly, Lady Henrietta Boyle, daughter of Charles Boyle, 3rd Earl of Cork and Juliana Noel, in September 1726.3 He died on 28 December 1764.4
He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Middleton [Ireland] between 1707 and 1713.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) Kilmallock [Ireland] between 1713 and 1715.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Cork [Ireland] between 1715 and 1756.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1733.4 He held the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer [Ireland] between 1733 and 1755.2 He held the office of Speaker, House of Commons [Ireland] between 1733 and 1756.2 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1735.4 He was Commissioner of Revenue for Ireland between 1735 and 1739.4 He held the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer [Ireland] in 1739.4 He was created 1st Viscount Boyle of Bandon, co. Cork [Ireland] on 17 April 1756.4 He succeeded as the 1st Baron of Castle Martyr, co. Cork [Ireland] on 17 April 1756.4 He was created 1st Earl of Shannon [Ireland] on 17 April 1756.4
