He was also known as John Fiennes.1 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Clinton [E., 1299] on 29 February 1487/88.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) on 14 November 1501.3

Welbore Ellis, 1st Baron Mendip of Mendip was born on 15 December 1713.3 He was the son of Rt. Rev. Welbore Ellis.1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Stanhope, daughter of Hon. William Stanhope, on 18 November 1747.3 He married, secondly, Anne Stanley, daughter of George Stanley, on 20 July 1765.3 He died on 2 February 1802 at age 88, without issue.4
He was educated at Westminster School, London, England.3 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cricklade between 1741 and 1747.3 He held the office of a Lord of the Admiralty between 1747 and 1755.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Weymouth between 1747 and 1761.3 He held the office of Joint Vice-Treasurer of Ireland between 1756 and 1762.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Aylesbury between 1761 and 1768.3 He held the office of Secretary at War between 1762 and 1765.3 He held the office of Joint Vice-Treasurer of Ireland between 1765 and 1766.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Petersfield between 1768 and 1774.3 He held the office of Joint Vice-Treasurer of Ireland between 1770 and 1777.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Weymouth between 1774 and 1790.3 He held the office of Treasurer of teh Navy between 1777 and 1782.3 He held the office of Secretary of State, America and the Colonies between February 1782 and March 1782.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Petersfield between 1791 and 1794.3 He was created 1st Baron Mendip of Mendip, co. Somerset [Great Britain] on 13 August 1794, with a special remainder to his sister Anne’s three sons.4

Thomas James Agar-Robartes, 1st Baron Robartes of Lanhydrock and of Truro1 
He was given the name of Thomas James Agar at birth.4 On 30 March 1822 his name was legally changed to Thomas James Agar-Robartes by Royal Licence.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for East Cornwall between 1847 and 1868.4 He was created 1st Baron Robartes of Lanhydrock and of Truro, co. Cornwall [U.K.] on 13 December 1869.1
