Reverend Archibald Moncreiffe1 
He graduated from St. Andrews University, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland, on 21 March 1580 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)3 He was Minister of Abernethy in 1586.1 He was hereditary Prior of Elcho in 1600.1 In 1610 he exchanged the hereditary Prior of Elcho for the old Moncreiffe estate of Balgony.2 In 1611 he acquired the lands of Balgony from his brother-in-law, David Murray.3 He was ancestor of the Barons Moncreiff.1

Sir John Moncreiffe1 
He held the office of Sheriff Depute of Perthshire.1 He was a practising Advocate.1 He was also known as Sir John Moncreiff of Easter Moncreiff.3 In 1592 Easter Moncreiffe was erected into a free Barony for him, giving its lairds the same powers of life and death as those already held by the Lairds of Moncreiffe.1
