     George Brereton was born on 21 December 1721.² He was the son of William Brereton and Alice Norcott.³ He married, firstly, Alicia Freeman, daughter of John Freeman.² He married, secondly, Isabella Hingston, daughter of Reverend James Hingston, in April 1781.³ He died circa December 1784.³ He was buried on 2 January 1785.³
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant and Adjutant in the Colonel John Dejean’s Regiment of Foot.² He held the office of High Sheriff of County Carlow in 1751.² He lived at Carrigslaney, County Carlow, Ireland^G.² He lived at Lohart Castle, County Cork, Ireland^G.²

     Hilary James Coughtrie Cotter was born on 20 March 1918.¹ He was the son of Dr. Gerald de Purcell Cotter and Rosalind Coughtrie.² He married Patricia Kathleen Angela Mary Esther Doyne, daughter of James Doyne, in 1957.¹ He died on 16 May 1997 at age 79.¹
     He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England^G.¹ He fought in the Second World War, where he was invalided.¹ He graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, in 1948 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He retired from the military in 1949, with the rank of Lieutenant (S), late of the Royal Navy.¹ He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of the Somaliland Protectorate between 1949 and 1950.¹ He was with the Department of National Defence Canadian Armed Forces Base, Cold Lake.¹ He graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, in 1954 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He graduated from Manitoba University, Manitoba, Canada^G, with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)¹

     James Doyne lived at Castlerickard, Moyvalley, County Meath, Ireland^G.¹

     Patricia Kathleen Angela Mary Esther Doyne is the daughter of James Doyne.² She married Hilary James Coughtrie Cotter, son of Dr. Gerald de Purcell Cotter and Rosalind Coughtrie, in 1957.¹
     From 1957, her married name became Cotter.
