     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1922 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Cambridgeshire Regiment (Territorial Army.)¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1946 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1951.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Norfolk in 1959.¹

     Hon. Elizabeth Helen de Grey was born on 20 December 1885 at Knightsbridge, London, England.^1,2 She was the daughter of John Augustus de Grey, 7th Baron Walsingham and Elizabeth Henrietta Grant.¹ She married Major Henry Wynter Blathwayt, son of Charles George Blathwayt, on 6 October 1910.¹ She died in 1975 at Worthing, Sussex, England.²
     From 6 October 1910, her married name became Blathwayt.¹

     Hon. Margaret Henrietta de Grey was born on 15 November 1889.¹ She was the daughter of John Augustus de Grey, 7th Baron Walsingham and Elizabeth Henrietta Grant.¹ She married, firstly, Bethel Godefroy Bouwens, son of Lt.-Col. Lambart Henry Bouwens and Charlotte Bethell, on 20 July 1912.¹ She married, secondly, Cyril Fabian Ratcliff Johnston, son of William Henry Johnston, on 29 September 1948.¹ She died on 13 July 1978 at age 88.¹
     From 20 July 1912, her married name became Bouwens.¹ From 29 September 1948, her married name became Johnston.

     Ian Anthony Hamilton-Smith, 3rd Baron Colwyn was born on 1 January 1942.¹ He is the son of Frederick John Vivian Smith, 2nd Baron Colwyn and Miriam Gwendoline Ferguson.² He married, firstly, Sonia Jane Morgan, daughter of Peter Henry Geoffrey Morgan, on 30 May 1964.¹ He and Sonia Jane Morgan were divorced in 1977.¹ He married, secondly, Nicola Jeanne Tyers, daughter of Arthur Tyers, on 24 March 1977.²

     Sonia Jane Morgan was the daughter of Peter Henry Geoffrey Morgan.² She married Ian Anthony Hamilton-Smith, 3rd Baron Colwyn, son of Frederick John Vivian Smith, 2nd Baron Colwyn and Miriam Gwendoline Ferguson, on 30 May 1964.¹ She and Ian Anthony Hamilton-Smith, 3rd Baron Colwyn were divorced in 1977.¹ She died on 4 September 2006.³
