John Stryvelyn, 1st Lord Stryvelyn1 
He was a leading military man in King Edward III’s wars against the Scots.1 In 1335 for services to King Edward III, he was granted the reversion of the Manor of Belsay.1 He was created 1st Lord Stryvelyn [England by writ] on 1 June 1363.2

Maj.-Gen. John Lambert was baptised on 7 September 1619 at Kirkby in Malhamdale, Yorkshire, EnglandG.3 He was the son of Josias Lambert and Ann Pigott.4,2 He married Frances Lister, daughter of Sir William Lister and Mary Belasyse, on 10 September 1639 at Thornton in Craven, Yorkshire, EnglandG.3 He died circa 25 March 1684 at St. Nicholas Isle, Plymouth Sound, Devon, EnglandG.3 He was buried on 28 March 1684 at St. Andrew’s, Plymouth, Devon, EnglandG.3
He fought in the Battle of Marston Moor in 1644.3 He fought in the English Civil War, as a Parliamentarian.5 He fought in the Scottish campaign, as 2nd in command to Cromwell.5 He gained the rank of Major-General in July 1647 in the Parliamentary Army.1 In 1652 he was appointed Lord Depute of Ireland (but declined the office.)5 He lived at Calton Hall, Yorkshire, EnglandG.5
