George Philip Cecil Arthur Stanhope, 7th Earl of Chesterfield1 
He was also known as George Arthur Philip.1 He was educated between 1845 and 1847 at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.3 He gained the rank of Cornet in 1849 in the Horse Guards.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1853.1 He retired from the military in 1855.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for South Nottinghamshire between 1860 and 1866.1 He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Chesterfield, co. Derby [E., 1628] on 1 June 1866.1 He succeeded as the 7th Baron Stanhope of Shelford, co. Nottingham [E., 1616] on 1 June 1866.1 His last will was dated 6 May 1871. On 17 November 1871 he caught typhoid fever, along with the Prince of Wales, while staying at Londesborough Lodge, near Scarborough. While the pricne recovered, the Earl succumbed.1
