     Lt.-Col. Richard Zachariah Mudge was born in 1789.² He was the son of Maj.-Gen. William Mudge and Katherine Jane Williamson.² He married Alice Watson Hull, daughter of James Watson Hull and Sophia Hollamby.² He died in 1854.³
     He was educated at Blackheath, Kent, England^G.² He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England^G.² He was commissioned in 1807, in the service of the Royal Engineers.² He fought in the Peninsular Wars.² He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Engineers.² He was a director of geodesical operations, with the Trigonometrical Survey of Great Britain.² He lived at Beechwood, Devon, England^G.¹

     Alice Watson Hull was born in 1787 at County Down, Ireland.¹ She was the daughter of James Watson Hull and Sophia Hollamby.^1,2 She married Lt.-Col. Richard Zachariah Mudge, son of Maj.-Gen. William Mudge and Katherine Jane Williamson.¹ She died in 1862.³
     Her married name became Mudge.¹

     James Watson Hull was born on 11 January 1758.² He was the son of Anthony Hull and Alice Watson.³ He married Sophia Hollamby, daughter of unknown Hollamby, on 20 November 1783 at Bombay, India^G.⁴

     Sophia Hull was baptised on 23 May 1786 at St. Andrew’s Church, Holborn, London, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of James Watson Hull and Sophia Hollamby.^1,2 She married Sir Thomas Stamford Bingley Raffles, son of Benjamin Raffles and Anne Lyde, on 22 February 1817 at St. Marylebone Church, Marylebone Road, Marylebone, London, England^G.¹ She died on 12 December 1858 at age 72.¹
     From 22 February 1817, her married name became Raffles.¹

     Sir Thomas Stamford Bingley Raffles was born on board the ship Ann, off the coast of Jamaica on 6 July 1781.³ He was the son of Benjamin Raffles and Anne Lyde.^1,3 He married, firstly, Olive Marianne Devenish on 14 March 1805.³ He married, secondly, Sophia Hull, daughter of James Watson Hull and Sophia Hollamby, on 22 February 1817 at St. Marylebone Church, Marylebone Road, Marylebone, London, England^G.³ He died on 5 July 1826 at age 44.³
     He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Java in 1811.³
     He founded the city of Singapore.¹ He wrote the book History of Java, published 1817.³ He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.)¹ He was appointed Fellow, Zoological Society (F.Z.S.)¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)¹

     Captain William Lawrence Flint was born on 17 October 1781.¹ He was the son of William Flint and Anne Mill.¹ He married Mary Ann Raffles, daughter of Benjamin Raffles and Anne Lyde, on 2 May 1811.¹ He died in October 1828.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.¹ He lived at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England^G.¹

     Sophia Mary Anne Flint was born on 26 March 1823 at Singapore^G.¹ She was the daughter of Captain William Lawrence Flint and Mary Ann Raffles.¹ She died on 9 July 1848 at age 25 at Morden Rectory, Morden, Surrey, England, unmarried.^1,2 She was buried on 14 July 1848 at Morden, Surrey, England.²
     She was also known as Mary Anne Sophia Flint.²

     Clare Vanessa A. Taube was born in 1991 at Islington, London, England.¹ She is the daughter of Simon Axel Robin Taube and Karen J. Pilkington.¹

     Mary Ann Raffles was born on 21 May 1789 at Lambeth, Surrey, England^G.² She was the daughter of Benjamin Raffles and Anne Lyde.^1,2 She married, firstly, Quintin Dick Thompson in 1805.² She married, secondly, Captain William Lawrence Flint, son of William Flint and Anne Mill, on 2 May 1811.¹ She died on 30 September 1837 at age 48.¹ She was buried on 7 October 1837.²
     From 1805, her married name became Thompson.² From 2 May 1811, her married name became Flint.

     Stamford Raffles Charles Flint was born on 16 September 1812.¹ He was the son of Captain William Lawrence Flint and Mary Ann Raffles.¹ He died on 7 April 1816 at age 3.¹
