Reginald Edward Manningham-Buller, 1st Viscount Dilhorne 

Reginald Edward Manningham-Buller, 1st Viscount Dilhorne was born on 1 August 1905.2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir Mervyn Edward Manningham-Buller, 3rd Bt. and Hon. Lilah Constance Cavendish. He married Lady Mary Lilian Lindsay, daughter of David Alexander Edward Lindsay, 27th Earl of Crawford and Constance Lilian Pelly, on 18 December 1930.3 He died on 7 September 1980 at age 75 at Knoydart, Inverness-shire, Scotland.3,2,4
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1926 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1929 entitled to practise as a barrister.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Daventry between 1943 and 1950.2 He held the office of Parliamentary Secretary, Minstry of Works between May 1945 and July 1945.2 He was appointed King’s Counsel (K.C.) in 1946.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Northamptonshire South between 1950 and 1962.2 He was appointed Knight in 1951.2 He held the office of Solicitor-General between 1951 and 1954.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1954.2 He held the office of Attorney-General between 1954 and 1962.2 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil law (D.C.L.) by McGill University, Montréal, Quebec, CanadaG.2 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (D.L.) by Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, U.S.A.G.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Manningham-Buller, of Dilhorne Hall, Staffs [U.K., 1866] on 22 August 1956.2 He held the office of Recorder of Kingston-upon-Thames in 1962.2 He held the office of Lord Chancellor between 1962 and 1964.2 He was created 1st Baron Dilhorne, of Towcester, co. Northampton [U.K.] on 17 July 1962.2 He was created 1st Viscount Dilhorne, of Greens Norton, co. Northampton [U.K.] on 7 December 1964.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Northamptonshire in 1967.2 He held the office of Lord of Appeal in ordinary in 1969.2 He held the office of Reader of the Inner Temple in 1974.2 He held the office of Treasurer of the Inner Temple in 1975.2

Mabel Lindsay was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Hon. Sir James Lindsay and Lady Sarah Elizabeth Savile.1 She married Lt.-Col. William John Fresheville Ramsden, son of Captain Henry James Ramsden and Hon. Frederica Selina Law, on 13 February 1877.3 She died on 12 June 1928.3
