Lt.-Gen. Sir Daniel O’Carroll, 1st Bt.1 
He gained the rank of Captain in 1707 in the Crofton’s Regiment, in the Spanish service.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on 1 March 1709 in the regiment of horse.1 He gained the rank of Colonel on 2 December 1710 in the regiment of horse.1 He was created 1st Baronet O’Carroll [Ireland] circa 1712, although there is no proof of this creation.1 He gained the rank of Brigadier-General on 29 October 1735.1 He gained the rank of Major-General on 2 July 1739.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General on 18 February 1741/42.1
