Arthur Charles Churchman, 1st and last Baron Woodbridge was born on 7 September 1867.3 He was the son of Henry Charles Churchman and Mary Anna Eade.3 He married Edith Harvey, daughter of J. A. Harvey, on 23 July 1891.3 He died on 3 February 1949 at age 81.3
He was educated at Ipswich Scool, Ipswich, Suffolk, EnglandG.3 He held the office of Mayor of Ipswich between 1901 and 1902.3 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the Essex and Suffolk Royal Garrison Artillery between 1905 and 1909.3 He was vice-chairman of British American Tobacco Company Ltd.3 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the 2/6th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment in 1914.3 He was created 1st Baronet Churchman, of Ipswich, co. Suffolk [U.K.] on 3 July 1917.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Suffolk, Woodbridge Division between 1920 and 1929.3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Suffolk.3 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Suffolk.3 He held the office of High Sheriff of Suffolk in 1931.3 He was created 1st Baron Woodbridge, of Ipswich, co. Suffolk [U.K.] on 17 June 1932.4 He held the office of High Steward of Ipswich in 1935.3
