Sir William Alfred Churchman, 1st and last Bt.1

He held the office of Mayor of Ipswich between 1899 and 1900.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel between 1906 and 1912 in the 4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment.1 He was Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel of the 2/5th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment between 1914 and 1916.1 He was with the Ministry of Munitions between 1917 and 1918.1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1920.1 He was created 1st Baronet Churchman, of West Melton, co. Suffolk [U.K.] on 29 June 1938.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Suffolk.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Suffolk.1
