     Lt.-Col. Robert Arthur Walter Charles Stuart was born on 27 December 1828.1 He was the son of Hon. Andrew Godfrey Stewart and Sophia Isabella Lenox-Conyngham.2 He married Louisa Frances Burton, daughter of Edmund Singer Burton, on 24 May 1855.1 He died on 20 August 1875 at age 46.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 17th Madras Native Infantry.1
