     Mary Damer was the daughter of Joseph Damer and Mary Churchill.¹ She married William Henry Dawson, 1st Viscount Carlow, son of Ephraim Dawson and Anne Preston, on 8 December 1737.¹ She died on 2 June 1769.¹ She was buried at St. George’s Chapel, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G.¹
     From 8 December 1737, her married name became Dawson.¹

     Joseph Damer was born in 1676.² He was the son of George Damer and Sarah Fowler.³ He married Mary Churchill, daughter of John Churchill, on 6 December 1714.² He died on 1 March 1736/37.²
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) between 1722 and 1727.² He lived at Winterbourne-Came, Dorset, England^G.¹ He was described by Horace Walpole as a miser and usurer.²

     Mary Churchill is the daughter of John Churchill.¹ She married Joseph Damer, son of George Damer and Sarah Fowler, on 6 December 1714.²
     Her married name became Damer.¹

     John Churchill lived at Henbury, Dorset, England^G.¹

     Joseph Damer, 1st Earl of Dorchester was born on 12 March 1717/18.² He was the son of Joseph Damer and Mary Churchill.¹ He married Lady Caroline Sackville, daughter of Lionel Cranfield Sackville, 1st Duke of Dorset and Elizabeth Colyear, on 27 July 1742.³ He died on 12 January 1798 at age 79.²
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Weymouth between 1741 and 1747.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Bramber between 1747 and 1754.² He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1753.² He was created 1st Baron Milton of Shronehill, co. Tipperary [Ireland] on 3 July 1753.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Dorchester between 1754 and 1762.² He held the office of High Steward of Dorchester.² He built the model village of Milton Abbas, Dorset.² He was created 1st Baron Milton of Milton Abbey, co. Dorset [Great Britain] on 11 May 1762.² He was created 1st Viscount Milton of Milton Abbey, co. Dorset [Great Britain] on 18 May 1792.² He was created 1st Earl of Dorchester [Great Britain] on 18 May 1792.²

     Sir John Carlyle, 1st Lord Carlyle of Torthorwald was the son of William Carlyle and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick.¹ A contract for the marriage of Sir John Carlyle, 1st Lord Carlyle of Torthorwald and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick was signed.¹ He married, firstly, Janet (?) before 1476.² He married, secondly, Margaret Douglas before 4 February 1492/93.² He died before 23 July 1501.¹
     He was created 1st Lord Carlyle of Torthorwald [Scotland] between October 1473 and July 1474.¹ He held the office of Chief Justice south of the Forth [Scotland].¹ In 1485 he was instrumental in suppressing the rebellion of the Douglas family, and was rewarded with large grants of land.¹ His last will was dated 12 November 1500.²

     William Carlyle died between 1452 and November 1463.¹
     He lived at Torthorwald, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.¹ In 1436 he attended Margaret of Scotland into France for her marriage to Louis the Dauphin (later King Louis XI.)¹

     Elizabeth Kirkpatrick is the daughter of Sir Duncan Kirkpatrick and Isabel (?)¹
