David Lloyd George, 1st Earl Lloyd George of Dwyfor was born on 17 January 1863.1 He was the son of William George and Elizabeth Lloyd. He married, firstly, Margaret Owen, daughter of Richard Owen, in January 1888.1 He married, secondly, Frances Louise Stevenson, daughter of John Stevenson, in October 1943.3 He died on 26 March 1945 at age 82.1
He was appointed Knight of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.G.St.J.)1 He was educated at Llanystymdwy Church School, Llanystymdwy, WalesG.1 He was a practising Solicitor in 1884, with Lloyd George and George.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Caernarvon between April 1890 and 1944.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Caenarvonshire.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Caernarvonshire.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1905.1 He held the office of President of the Board of Trade between 1905 and 1908.1 He held the office of Constable of Caernarvon Castle between 1908 and 1945.1 He held the office of Minister of Munitions between 1915 and 1916.1 He held the office of Secretary of State, War in 1916.1 He held the office of Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury between 1916 and 1922.1 He was awarded the Grand-Croix, Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur.1 He was awarded the Order of Merit (O.M.) in 1919.1 He was awarded the Order of St. Maurice and St. Lazarus of Italy.1 He was Chief British Representative to the Paris Peace Conference in 1919.1 He held the office of Lord Rector of Edinburgh University in 1920.1 He was created 1st Earl Lloyd George of Dwyfor [U.K.] on 12 February 1945.1 He was created 1st Viscount Gwynedd, of Dwyfor, co. Caernarvon [U.K.] on 12 February 1945.1
