He held the office of Sheriff of Bute.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Arran.1 On 28 May 1490 he was retoured heir to Ardmaleish, Greenan, Mill of Kilcattan and Corrigillis estates.1 He held the office of Hereditary Captain and Keeper of Rothesay Castle in 1498.1
