     Hon. Hugh Sinclair Arbuthnott was born on 14 November 1929.¹ He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Robert Keith Arbuthnott, 15th Viscount Arbuthnott and Ursula Collingwood.¹ He married Anne Rosamund Terdre, daughter of Charles Bentley Terdre, on 21 September 1963.¹ He died on 23 October 2018 at age 88.²
     He was educated at Fettes School, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ He was an executive for Shell International Petroleum Company between 1950 and 1983.¹ He graduated from Caius College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, in 1952 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)³ He graduated from Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G, in 1953 with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Black Watch.¹ He lived in 1999 at Cairnhill, Forfar, Angus, Scotland^G.¹

     Anne Rosamund Terdre is the daughter of Charles Bentley Terdre.¹ She married Hon. Hugh Sinclair Arbuthnott, son of Maj.-Gen. Robert Keith Arbuthnott, 15th Viscount Arbuthnott and Ursula Collingwood, on 21 September 1963.¹
     From 21 September 1963, her married name became Arbuthnott.¹

     Charles Bentley Terdre lived at Appledore, Cherry Walk, High Salvington, Sussex, England^G.¹
