     Sir David Baxter, 1st and last Bt. was born on 15 February 1793 at Dundee, Angus, Scotland.1 He was the son of William Baxter.1 He married Elizabeth Montgomerie, daughter of R. Montgomerie, in 1833.1 He died on 13 October 1872 at age 79.1
     He was partner of Baxter Brothers & Company Ltd, linen manufacturers.1 He gained the title of 1st Baronet Baxter on 1 January 1863.
