Maj.-Gen. Robert Keith Arbuthnott, 15th Viscount Arbuthnott was born on 21 August 1897.1 He was the son of John Campbell Arbuthnott and Jeannie Sinclair Hamilton.1 He married Ursula Collingwood, daughter of Sir William Collingwood, on 10 January 1924.1 He died on 15 December 1966 at age 69.1
He was educated at Fettes School, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.3 He gained the rank of General Staff Officer (2) in 1938 in the Staff College.3 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1938.3 He fought in the Palestine Campaign between 1938 and 1939, where he was mentioned in despatches.3 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.3 He was commander of the 11th Infantry Brigade between 1942 and 1944 at ItalyG.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1944.3 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1944.3 He was commander of the 78th Infantry Division between 1944 and 1946.3 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1945 in the Black Watch.3 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)3 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1945.3 He was awarded the Commander, U.S. Legion of Merit.3 He held the office of Chairman of the British Military Commission to the Egyptian Army in 1946.3 He was Chief of Staff of the Scottish Command between 1948 and 1949.3 He was Commander of the Highland District between 1949 and 1952.3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Kincardineshire in 1959.3 He was Colonel of the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) between 1960 and 1964.3 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Kincardineshire between 1960 and 1966.3 He succeeded as the 15th Lord Inverbervie, of co. Kincardine [S., 1641] on 17 October 1960.1 He succeeded as the 15th Viscount of Arbuthnott, of co. Kincardine [S., 1641] on 17 October 1960.1

John Campbell Arbuthnott, 16th Viscount Arbuthnott was born on 26 October 1924.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Robert Keith Arbuthnott, 15th Viscount Arbuthnott and Ursula Collingwood.1 He married Mary Elizabeth Darley Oxley, daughter of Commander Christopher Bernard Oxley and Kathleen Maude Eginton Grant, on 3 September 1949.1 He died on 14 July 2012 at age 87.2
