Vice-Admiral Richard Benyon1 
He was given the name of Richard Shelley at birth.1 He fought in the First World War.2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1942.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1946.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire in 1958.2 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire between 1961 and 1968.2 On 14 March 1964 his name was legally changed to Richard Benyon by Deed Poll, on inheriting Englefield estate form his cousin, Sir Henry Benyon, 3rd Bt.1 In 1967 his name was legally changed to Richard Benyon by Royal Licence.1 He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral in the Royal Navy.2
