He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Navy.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Blackwood [U.K., 1814] on 7 January 1851.1

Sir John Blackwood, 2nd Bt.1 
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Killyleagh [Ireland] between 1761 and 1768.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bangor [Ireland] between 1769 and 1776.4 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Blackwood, of Ballyleidy, co. Down [I., 1763] in 1774.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bangor [Ireland] between 1776 and 1790.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bangor [Ireland] between 1790 and 1797.4 His last will was dated 24 July 1792. He opposed the Union of British and Irish Parliaments.6

Dorcas Stevenson, Baroness Dufferin and Claneboye1 
From 22 May 1751, her married name became Blackwood.1 She was created 1st Baroness Dufferin and Claneboye of Ballyleidy and Killyleagh, co. Down [Ireland] on 31 July 1800, suo jure, with remainder to heirs male of the body of her late husband.1
