     John Thornton was born on 1 November 1808.² He was the son of John Thornton.¹ He was baptised on 2 November 1808 at St. Leonard, New Malton, Yorkshire, England.² He married Ann Knowsley, daughter of George Knowsley and Ann Noble, on 31 October 1840 at The Parish Church, Great Driffield, Yorkshire, England^G.¹ He died on 9 April 1887 at age 78 at Aston Abbotts, Buckinghamshire, England.²

     Ann Knowsley was born circa 1813 at Frodingham, Yorkshire, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of George Knowsley and Ann Noble.¹ She married John Thornton, son of John Thornton, on 31 October 1840 at The Parish Church, Great Driffield, Yorkshire, England^G.¹ She died on 12 February 1890 at Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, England.¹
     From 31 October 1840, her married name became Thornton.¹

     Eleanor Phillipa Paterson married John Knowsley Thornton, son of John Thornton and Ann Knowsley, on 1 December 1873 at Kensington, London, England^G.¹
     From 1 December 1873, her married name became Thornton.¹

     Comte François de Nicolay married Marie Hélène Naila Stephanie Josina van Zuylen van Nyevelt, daughter of Egmont Baron van Zuylen van Nyevelt, before 1957.¹

     Charlotte de Rothschild was born in 1819.¹ She was the daughter of Baron Carl Mayer de Rothschild and Adelheid Hertz.² She married Baron Lionel Nathan de Rothschild, son of Nathan Mayer Rothschild and Hannah Cohen, on 15 June 1836.² She died on 13 March 1884.²

     Baron Carl Mayer de Rothschild was born in 1788.¹ He was the son of Mayer Amschel Rothschild and Gutle Schnapper.² He married Adelheid Hertz in 1818.¹ He died in 1855.¹
     He was the founder of the Naples branch of Rothschilds, which after the unification of Italy returned to Frankfurt.¹ He lived at Naples, Italy^G.²
     He had another son, who died young.²

     Nemo Matthew Gage was born on 21 June 2001.¹ He is the son of Marius Berkeley Gage and Chui Yoke Seet.¹

     Hawise FitzReinfrid was the daughter of Sir Gilbert FitzRoger FitzReinfrid, Lord of Kendal.² She married Sir Piers de Brus II.¹
     Her married name became de Brus.¹

     Sir Piers de Brus III was the son of Sir Piers de Brus II and Hawise FitzReinfrid.¹ He died on 18 September 1272.¹
