     Margaret Menzies was the daughter of Alexander Menzies of Culterallers.¹ She married, firstly, John Hamilton of Pencaitland, younger, son of James Hamilton, Lord Pencaitland and Catherine Denholm.¹ She married, secondly, Hon. William Carmichael, son of John Carmichael, 1st Earl of Hyndford and Beatrix Drummond.¹
     Her married name became Carmichael.¹ Her married name became Hamilton.¹

     Alexander Menzies of Culterallers lived at Saltcoats, East Lothian, Scotland^G.¹

     Hon. William Carmichael was born in 1671.² He was the son of John Carmichael, 1st Earl of Hyndford and Beatrix Drummond.^1,2 He married, secondly, Margaret Menzies, daughter of Alexander Menzies of Culterallers.¹ He married, firstly, Helen Craig, daughter of Thomas Craig, 5th of Riccarton, on 17 April 1709.² He died on 29 December 1759.²
     He was a practising Advocate in 1695.² He was a practising King’s Solicitor in 1701.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lanark [Scotland] between 1702 and 1707.² He lived at Skirling, Scotland^G.²

     Alexander Hamilton was the son of James Hamilton, Lord Pencaitland and Catherine Denholm.¹ He married Mary Kinloch, daughter of Sir Francis Kinloch of Gilmerton, 3rd Bt..¹ He died on 21 March 1758.¹
     He lived at Dechmont, Scotland^G.¹ He lived at Barncleuch, Lanarkshire, Scotland^G.¹ He lived at Saltcoats, East Lothian, Scotland^G.¹ He lived at Pencaitland, East Lothian, Scotland^G.¹

     Mary Kinloch was the daughter of Sir Francis Kinloch of Gilmerton, 3rd Bt.¹ She married Alexander Hamilton, son of James Hamilton, Lord Pencaitland and Catherine Denholm.¹ She died on 24 February 1772.¹
     Her married name became Hamilton.¹

     Sir Francis Kinloch of Gilmerton, 3rd Bt. was born on 23 June 1676.² He is the son of Sir Francis Kinloch of Gilmerton, 2nd Bt. and Mary Leslie.² He married Mary Rochead, daughter of James Rochead of Inverleith and Magdalen Kinloch, in 1705.² He died on 2 March 1747 at age 70.²
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Kinloch, of Gilmerton [N.S., 1686] circa 8 September 1699.¹

     Mary Hamilton was the daughter of Alexander Hamilton and Mary Kinloch.¹ She married William Nisbet of Dirleton, son of William Nisbet of Dirleton, on 2 February 1747.¹ She died on 13 March 1797.¹
     From 2 February 1747, her married name became Nisbet.¹ In 1777 she succeeded in the estates of Biel and Presmennan, from her cousin, 5th Lord Belhaven and Stenton.¹ She lived at Pencaitland, East Lothian, Scotland^G.¹
     She had a son and two daughters.¹

     Alexander Nisbet married Katherine Porterfield, daughter of Walter Porterfield.¹
     He lived at Craigentinny, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.¹

     Sir Archibald Hamilton of Rosehall, 1st Bt. was the son of James Hamilton and Margaret Hamilton.¹ He married, firstly, Catherine Jardine, daughter of George Jardine.¹ He married, secondly, Anne Murray, daughter of unknown Murray of Deuchar.¹ He died in 1709.¹
     He was a merchant at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Hamilton, of Rosehall, co. Lanark [Nova Scotia] on 10 April 1703.¹

     Catherine Jardine was the daughter of George Jardine.¹ She married Sir Archibald Hamilton of Rosehall, 1st Bt., son of James Hamilton and Margaret Hamilton.¹ She died, without male issue.¹
     Her married name became Hamilton.¹
