     Air Marshal Charles Frederick Algernon Portal, 1st and last Viscount Portal of Hungerford was born on 21 May 1893.³ He was the son of Edward Robert Portal and Ellinor Kate Hill.^1,4 He married Joan Margaret Welby, daughter of Sir Charles Glynne Earle Welby, 5th Bt., on 22 July 1919.³ He died on 22 April 1971 at age 77.³

Berkshire [U.K.] on 17 September 1945, with a special remainder to his eldest daughter.¹ He was awarded the Order of Merit (O.M.) in 1946.⁴ He was awarded the United States Distinguished Service Medal (D.S.M.)³ He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1946.⁴ He was Controller of Atomic Energy, Ministry of Supply between 1946 and 1951.⁴ He was created 1st Viscount Portal of Hungerford, of Hungerford, co. Berkshire [U.K.] on 28 January 1946, with remainder to heirs male of his body.^1,3 He was awarded the Order of White Lion Czechoslavakia, 1st Class.³ He was chairman of King Edward VII Hospital between 1950 and 1968 at Midhurst, Sussex, England.³ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of West Sussex in 1951.³ He was chairman of British Aluminium between 1953 and 1959.³ He was awarded the Order of Polonia Restituta 1st Class.³ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.) by Birmingham University, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England^G.³ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) by Reading University, Reading, Berkshire, England^G.³ He lived at Hungerford, Berkshire, England.³ On his death, his viscountancy became extinct.⁴

     Alison Joane Rylands was born on 27 February 1963.¹ She is the daughter of Reverend Thomas Michael Rylands and Denise Elisabeth Bates.¹
     She was educated at Moreton Hall School, Shropshire, England^G.¹ She was educated at City and Guilds College of Art, London, England^G.¹

     Lt.-Col. Austin Graves Bates was born on 19 August 1891.¹ He was the son of Sir Edward Percy Bates, 2nd Bt. and Constance Elizabeth Graves.¹ He married Jean Christian Marguerite Hunter, daughter of James Havard Hunter and Jessie Louisa Scott-Kerr, on 15 December 1920.¹ He died on 11 September 1961 at age 70.¹
     He was educated at Clifton School, England^G.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches three times, and wounded.¹ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1917.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery.¹ He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1943.¹

     Caroline Davan Braby is the daughter of Cedric Braby and Margaret (?)¹ She married Thomas Richard Kerrison Davey, son of Major Richard Edmund Davey and Evelyn Ethel Edwina Houldsworth, in September 1966.¹
     From September 1966, her married name became Davey.¹

     Richard Francis Davey was born on 24 May 1967.¹ He is the son of Thomas Richard Kerrison Davey and Caroline Davan Braby.¹ He married Louise Marjorie Collinson in May 2010.²

     Jeremy Dickson Bates was born on 1 April 1932.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Austin Graves Bates and Jean Christian Marguerite Hunter.¹ He married Elizabeth Marjorie Rudd, daughter of H. W. Rudd, in 1978.¹ He died on 27 November 2014 at age 82.²
     He graduated from London University, London, England^G, in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)¹ He was registered as a Associate, City and Guilds of London Institute (A.C.G.I.)¹

     H. W. Rudd lived at High Pines, Woodend Drive, Sunninghill, Berkshire, England^G.¹

     Thomas James Dickson Bates was born in 1980.¹ He is the son of Jeremy Dickson Bates and Elizabeth Marjorie Rudd.¹
