     Hon. Bridget Bourke was born in 1716.² She was the daughter of Theobald Bourke, 6th Viscount Mayo and Mary Browne.^1,3 She married Colonel John Gunning. She died in 1770.²
     Her married name became Gunning.

     Theobald Bourke, 6th Viscount Mayo was born on 6 January 1681.² He was the son of Miles Bourke, 5th Viscount Mayo and Jane Bermingham.^1,2 He married, firstly, Mary Browne, daughter of Colonel John Browne and Maud Bourke, on 8 July 1702.² He married, secondly, Margaret Gunning, daughter of Bryan Gunning, in June 1731.¹ He died on 25 June 1741 at age 60 at Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G.² He was buried at Ballintober, County Mayo, Ireland^G.¹
     He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Bourke [S., c. 1638] in March 1681.³ He succeeded as the 6th Viscount Mayo [I., 1627] in March 1681.¹

     Elizabeth Anne Burrell was born on 20 April 1757.¹ She was the daughter of Peter Burrell and Elizabeth Lewis.¹ She married, firstly, Douglas Hamilton, 8th Duke of Hamilton, son of James Hamilton, 6th Duke of Hamilton and Elizabeth Gunning, Baroness Hamilton of Hameldon, on 5 April 1778.¹ She and Douglas Hamilton, 8th Duke of Hamilton were divorced in 1794 by an Act of Parliament, at her suit.¹ She married, secondly, Henry Cecil, 1st Marquess of Exeter, son of Hon. Thomas Chambers Cecil and Charlotte Garnier, on 19 August 1800.¹ She died on 17 January 1837 at age 79 at Privy Gardens, Whitehall, London, England^G, without issue.¹
     After her marriage, Elizabeth Anne Burrell was styled as Duchess of Hamilton on 5 April 1778. From 5 April 1778, her married name became Hamilton. From 19 August 1800, her married name became Cecil. After her marriage, Elizabeth Anne Burrell was styled as Countess of Exeter on 19 August 1800. After her marriage, Elizabeth Anne Burrell was styled as Marchioness of Exeter on 4 February 1801.

     Peter Burrell was born on 27 August 1724.² He was the son of Peter Burrell and Amy Raymond. He married Elizabeth Lewis, daughter of Peter Lewis, on 28 February 1748.² He died on 6 November 1775 at age 51.^3,4
     He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Launceston between 1759 and 1768.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Totnes between 1768 and 1774.³ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)² He held the office of Surveyor-General of Crown Lands.² He lived at Langley Park, Beckenham, Kent, England^G.¹ He had one other daughter.⁵

     Elizabeth Lewis was the daughter of Peter Lewis.¹ She married Peter Burrell, son of Peter Burrell and Amy Raymond, on 28 February 1748.² She died on 8 June 1795.²
     From 28 February 1748, her married name became Burrell.

     Peter Lewis lived at Hackney, London, England^G.² He was also known as John Lewis.^2,3

     Elizabeth Marjorie Rudd is the daughter of H. W. Rudd.¹ She married Jeremy Dickson Bates, son of Lt.-Col. Austin Graves Bates and Jean Christian Marguerite Hunter, in 1978.¹
     From 1978, her married name became Bates.¹

     Henry Cecil, 1st Marquess of Exeter was born on 14 March 1754.² He was the son of Hon. Thomas Chambers Cecil and Charlotte Garnier.² He married, firstly, Emma Vernon, daughter of Thomas Vernon and Emma Cornewall, on 23 May 1776.² He and Emma Vernon were divorced on 10 June 1791. He married, secondly, Sarah Hoggins, daughter of Thomas Hoggins and Jane Bayley, on 3 October 1791.² He married, thirdly, Elizabeth Anne Burrell, daughter of Peter Burrell and Elizabeth Lewis, on 19 August 1800.¹ He died on 1 May 1804 at age 50.³
     He succeeded as the 10th Earl of Exeter [E., 1605] on 26 December 1793.² He succeeded as the 11th Baron of Burghley, co. Northampton [E., 1571] on 26 December 1793.² He was created 1st Marquess of Exeter [U.K.] on 4 February 1801.¹

     Archibald Hamilton, 9th Duke of Hamilton was born on 15 July 1740.¹ He was the son of James Hamilton, 5th Duke of Hamilton and Anne Spencer.¹ He married Lady Harriet Stewart, daughter of Alexander Stewart, 6th Earl of Galloway and Lady Catherine Cochrane, on 25 May 1765.¹ He died on 16 February 1819 at age 78 at Ashton Hall, Lancashire, England^G.¹ He was buried at St. Mary’s Church, Lancaster, Lancashire, England^G.¹ His will was proven (by probate) on 30 November 1819, at under £90,000.¹
     He was educated in January 1753 at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire between 1768 and 1772.¹ In 1771 he inherited the Suffolk estates of his mother.¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Lanarkshire between 1799 and 1802.¹ He succeeded as the 6th Earl of Angus [S., 1633] on 2 August 1799.³ He succeeded as the 6th Marquess of Douglas [S., 1633] on 2 August 1799.³ He succeeded as the 6th Lord Abernethy and Jedburgh Forest [S., 1633] on 2 August 1799.³ He succeeded as the 9th Earl of Arran and Cambridge [S., 1643] on 2 August 1799.³ He succeeded as the 9th Lord Aven and Innerdale [S., 1643] on 2 August 1799.³ He succeeded as the 9th Duke of Hamilton [S., 1643] on 2 August 1799.¹ He succeeded as the 9th Marquess of Clydesdale [S., 1643] on 2 August 1799.³ He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Lanark [S., 1639] on 2 August 1799.³ He succeeded as the 6th Duke of Brandon [G.B., 1711] on 2 August 1799.^1,3 He succeeded as the 6th Baron of Dutton [G.B., 1711] on 2 August 1799.³ He succeeded as the 8th Lord Machansyre and Polmont [S., 1639] on 2 August 1799.³
     Gibbs states that “he cared more for racing than politics, but is said to have inclined towards the Whigs. He voted with the Court during his short stay in the Commons, but rarely attended in the Lords; his name is not in the division lists on Lord Melville’s impeachment, nor on the Catholic disabilities.”¹

     Lady Harriet Stewart was the daughter of Alexander Stewart, 6th Earl of Galloway and Lady Catherine Cochrane.¹ She married Archibald Hamilton, 9th Duke of Hamilton, son of James Hamilton, 5th Duke of Hamilton and Anne Spencer, on 25 May 1765.¹ She died on 26 November 1788 at Bath, Somerset, England^G.^1,2 She was buried on 3 December 1788 at St. Mary’s Church, Lancaster, Lancashire, England^G.¹
     From 25 May 1765, her married name became Hamilton.
