     Donald Ninian Nicol of Ardmarnoch married Anne Millicent Bates, daughter of Sir Edward Bates, 1st Bt. and Ellen Thompson, on 25 November 1874.¹ He died on 27 July 1903.¹
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹ He lived at Ardmarnock, Argyllshire, Scotland^G.¹

     Mabel Stenhouse Bates was the daughter of Sir Edward Bates, 1st Bt. and Ellen Thompson.¹ She married Frederick Bellairs Thompson on 20 February 1873.¹ She died in April 1931, leaving issue.¹
     From 20 February 1873, her married name became Thompson.¹

     Frederick Bellairs Thompson married Mabel Stenhouse Bates, daughter of Sir Edward Bates, 1st Bt. and Ellen Thompson, on 20 February 1873.¹ He died in 1882.¹
     He lived at Bellefield, Derbyshire, England^G.¹

     Norah Greame Bates was the daughter of Sir Edward Bates, 1st Bt. and Ellen Thompson.¹ She married Stanes Brocket Henry Chamberlayne, son of Henry Thomas Chamberlayne and Mary Tomes, on 9 December 1880.¹ She died on 20 December 1939, leaving issue.¹
     From 9 December 1880, her married name became Chamberlayne.¹

     Stanes Brocket Henry Chamberlayne was born on 8 February 1843.² He was the son of Henry Thomas Chamberlayne and Mary Tomes.^1,2 He married Norah Greame Bates, daughter of Sir Edward Bates, 1st Bt. and Ellen Thompson, on 9 December 1880.¹ He died on 5 March 1931 at age 88.¹
     He lived at Witherley Hall, Atherstone, Warwickshire, England^G.¹

     Henry Thomas Chamberlayne married Mary Tomes, daughter of Edward Tomes and Mary Susannah Cotton, on 6 December 1824 at Southam, Warwickshire, England.²
     He lived at Stoney Thorpe, Warwickshire, England^G.¹

     Constance Elizabeth Graves was the daughter of Samuel Robert Graves.¹ She married Sir Edward Percy Bates, 2nd Bt., son of Sir Edward Bates, 1st Bt. and Ellen Thompson, on 20 April 1876.¹ She died on 18 April 1930.¹
     From 20 April 1876, her married name became Bates.¹

     Samuel Robert Graves held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Liverpool.¹

     Mary Ann Lefroy was born in 1871.^1,2 She was the daughter of Very Rev. William Lefroy and Mary Ann MacIver.¹ She married Sir Percy Elly Bates, 4th Bt., son of Sir Edward Percy Bates, 2nd Bt. and Constance Elizabeth Graves, on 20 June 1907.¹ She died on 30 July 1973.¹
     From 20 June 1907, her married name became Bates.¹
