On 12 April 1559 he was infelt of his lands and barony.1 On 25 April 1569 he signed a bond to King James VI of Scotland.1 On 2 September 1574 he tendered his allegiance.1 In 1577 he was a cautioner for his kinsman Sir George Barclay of Gartlie.1
