Colonel Sir George Ashley Maude1 
He fought in the Crimean War, and was severely wounded at the Battle of Balaclava.2 He was commander of the Royal Horse Artillery troop.2 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Commander-in-Chief in 1856.2 He was Military Attaché to Russia in 1856.2 He retired from the military in 1858, with the rank of Colonel, late of the Royal Artillery.2 He was Deputy-Inspector to the Royal Irish Constabulary between 1858 and 1859.2 He was Crown Equerry to HM Queen Victoria in 1859.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1887.2 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the Royal Horse Artillery, Woolwich.2
