Sir Windham Charles James Carmichael-Anstruther, 8th and 5th Bt.1 
He matriculated at Merton College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 12 June 1843.1 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Anstruther, of Anstruther and of Elie House, co. Fife [N.S., 1700] on 15 September 1869, and from 1817 ‘of Carmichael and Westraw, co. Lanark.1‘ He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Anstruther, of Fort William, Bengal [G.B., 1798] on 15 September 1869.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Lanarkshire.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for South Lanarkshire between 1874 and 1880.1 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Lanarkshire.2

He graduated from Trinity College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1898 with a Bachelor of Arts, history (B.A.)1 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Anstruther, of Anstruther and of Elie House, co. Fife [N.S., 1700] on 26 January 1898, and from 1817 ‘of Carmichael and Westraw, co. Lanark.1‘ He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Anstruther, of Fort William, Bengal [G.B., 1798] on 26 January 1898.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Lanarkshire.3 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Lanarks Imperial Yeomanry.3
