John de Vere, 15th Earl of Oxford was born circa 1488 at Castle Hedingham, Essex, EnglandG.3 He was the son of John de Vere and Alice Kilrington.1 He married, firstly, Christian Foderingey, daughter of Thomas Foderingey, in 1493/94.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Trussel, daughter of Edward Trussel and Margaret Dun, from 29 April 1507 to 4 July 1509 at Bentley, Rowley near Hull, Yorkshire, EnglandG.3 He died on 21 March 1539/40 at Colne, Essex, EnglandG.3
He held the office of Esquire of the Body to King Henry VII in 1509.1 He was appointed Knight in 1513.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Essex from 1515 to 1516.1 He held the office of Keeper of Colchester Castle from 1515 to 1516.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Hertfordshire from 1515 to 1516.1 He held the office of Keeper of Colchester Castle from 1519 to 1520.1 He held the office of Keeper of Colchester Castle from 1524 to 1525.1 He held the office of Lord Great Chamberlain in 1526, for life only.1 He succeeded as the 15th Earl of Oxford [E., 1142] on 14 July 1526.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1527.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in March 1530/31.1

John de Vere, 14th Earl of Oxford also went by the nick-name of ‘Little John of Campes’.1 He succeeded as the 14th Earl of Oxford [E., 1142] on 10 March 1512/13.1 On his death, the post of Lord Great Chamberlain reverted to the Crown.1
