Richard Grenville-Temple, 2nd Earl Temple was born on 26 September 1711.3 He was the son of Richard Grenville and Hester Temple, Countess Temple.1 He married Anne Chambers, daughter of Thomas Chambers and Lady Mary Berkeley, on 9 May 1737.4 He died on 11 September 1779 at age 67, without surviving issue.5
He was given the name of Richard Grenville at birth.4 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Buckingham between 1734 and 1741.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Buckinghamshire between 1741 and 1747.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Buckingham between 1747 and 1752.4 In 1752 his name was legally changed to Richard Grenville-Temple.4 He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount Cobham [G.B., 1718] on 6 October 1752.3 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Cobham, of Cobham, co. Kent [G.B., 1718] on 6 October 1752.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl Temple [G.B., 1749] on 6 October 1752.1 He remodelled Stowe.4 He held the office of First Lord of the Admiralty from 1756 to 1757.4 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1757.5 He held the office of Lord Privy Seal between 1757 and 1761.4 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire between 1758 and 1763.4 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1760.5

Anne Chambers was born in 1709. She was the daughter of Thomas Chambers and Lady Mary Berkeley.1,3 She married Richard Grenville-Temple, 2nd Earl Temple, son of Richard Grenville and Hester Temple, Countess Temple, on 9 May 1737.3 She died in May 1777.3

Elizabeth Wyndham was the daughter of Sir William Wyndham, 3rd Bt. and Lady Catherine Seymour.3 She married Rt. Hon. George Grenville, son of Richard Grenville and Hester Temple, Countess Temple, in 1749.4 She died on 5 December 1769.3
