She was the daughter of Joachim II Hector Kurfürst von Brandenburg and Hedwig of Poland, Princess of Poland.1 She married Franz Otto Herzog von Braunschweig-Lüneburg, son of Ernst I Herzog von Braunschweig-Lüneburg and Sophie von Mecklenburg-Schwerin, on 11 January 1559. She died on 22 August 1595 at age 57.

     Hedwig of Poland, Princess of Poland was born in 1513.1 She was the daughter of Sigismund I, King of Poland and Barbara Zapolya.1,2 She married Joachim II Hector Kurfürst von Brandenburg, son of Joachim I Nestor Kurfürst von Brandenburg and Elizabeth Oldenburg, Princess of Denmark, in 1535.1 She died in 1573.1
     She gained the title of Princess Hedwig of Poland.

     Sigismund I, King of Poland was born on 1 January 1467 at Kozienice, PolandG.2,3 He was the son of Casimir IV Jagiellon, King of Poland and Elisabeth von Habsburg.2 He married, firstly, Barbara Zapolya, daughter of Stephen Zapolya, in 1512.2 He married, secondly, Bonna Sforza, daughter of Giovanni Galeazzo Sforza, Duca di Milano and Isabella de‘Aragón, in 1518.2 He died on 1 April 1548 at age 81 at Krakow, PolandG.2,3
     He was a member of the House of Jagellon. Sigismund I, King of Poland also went by the nick-name of Sigismund ‘the Elder’.4 He succeeded as the King Sigismund I of Poland in 1506.2

He died on 29 April 1559 at age 28.
     He was a member of the House of Guelph.2 He succeeded as the Herzog von Braunschweig-Lüneburg in 1546.2
