Cuthbert Cuninghame, 3rd Earl of Glencairn1 
He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Kilmaurs [S., 1464] circa 1490.3 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Glencairn [S., 1488] on 13 August 1503, when his title was apparently recognised.1 On 24 July 1511 he was granted a charter of the Earldom and Barony of Glencairn.3 On 4 September 1526 he made an abortive attempt to wrest custody of King James V from the Douglas faction and was beaten by them at encounter of Linlithgow.3
