George O’Brien Wyndham, 3rd Earl of Egremont was born on 18 December 1751.3 He was the son of Charles Wyndham, 2nd Earl of Egremont and Hon. Alicia Maria Carpenter.4 He married Elizabeth Ilive, daughter of Reverend unknown Iliffe, on 16 July 1801.3 He died on 11 November 1837 at age 85, without legitimate male issue.3
He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, EnglandG.3 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Cockermouth, co. Cumberland [G.B., 1749] on 21 August 1763.3 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Egremont, co. Cumberland [G.B., 1749] on 21 August 1763.1,3 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Wyndham, of Orchard Windham, co. Somerset [E., 1661] on 21 August 1763.3 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.3 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.3 He and Eliza Fox were associated between 1792 and 1797.5 He was member of the Board of Agriculture in 1793.3 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1794 in the Sussex Yeomanry.3 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1797.3 He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.) in 1800.3 He owned 110,000 acres in the West of England, Cumberland, Yorkshire, Ireland and West Sussex, and was a leader in agricultural improvement.3 He held the office of Custos Rotulorum of Sussex between 1819 and 1835.3 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Sussex between 1819 and 1835.3 He held the office of Vice-Admiral of Sussex between 1820 and 1831.3
